TENCEL™ is made from wood. The fibre is produced using a closed-loop process. The wood comes from selected forestry or plantation sources. The water consumption associated with growing the wood can be significantly lower than that of cotton.

TENCEL™ MICRO was also awarded the European Environmental Award by the EU because its manufacturing process takes place in an almost 100% closed production loop.

Functions of TENCEL™

TENCEL™ has various functional properties: The fabric can contribute to a balanced feeling of temperature and moisture, dries quickly and feels smooth, soft and pleasant against the skin.

TENCEL™ Variations

CALIDA offers two different types of TENCEL™: TENCEL™ Lyocell and TENCEL™ Modal. Here are the key properties of the two fibres:

TENCEL™ Lyocell

During the production process of TENCEL**™** Lyocell, the solvents used are recovered and reused. Key properties of TENCEL™ Lyocell include a high strength profile, good moisture management and a smooth, pleasant surface. Thanks to its moisture-regulating properties, TENCEL™ Lyocell can feel particularly breathable.

TENCEL™ Modal

This fibre is made from beech wood using an integrated pulp-to-fibre process. TENCEL™ Modal is soft and known for its pleasant softness. Especially when combined with other fibres, it can provide a particularly soft feel and a comfortable sensation when worn. It also offers good colour retention and shine.
