The Special Characteristics of Bamboo
Bamboo is considered one of the fastest-growing plants in the world. The grass family plant can grow 1 to 2 metres per day under suitable conditions in Central Asia, reach heights of more than 20 metres and develop stalks with a diameter of up to 18 cm. Bamboo from plantations is used to produce the yarn. For cellulose production, the above-ground part of the plant is used, allowing the plant to grow again from its roots.
Bamboo Combined with TENCEL™
The bamboo yarn is blended with TENCEL™. The Lyocell fibre comes from Lenzing. It is of botanical origin, as it is made from wood. The fibre is produced using a closed-loop process. TENCEL™ materials are characterised, among other things, by high moisture absorption and a soft, smooth surface.
Difference Compared with Cotton
The TENCEL™ with bamboo fibre combines breathable and temperature-balancing properties with a comfortable feel. The fibre blend has a soft, silky-smooth handle. Compared with cotton, clothing made from TENCEL™ bamboo fibre can be less prone to creasing. Depending on the material composition and care instructions, the fabric can retain its shape well during washing and dry quickly at normal temperatures.
