Fabrics for clothing in hot weather

If you tend to sweat quickly when temperatures rise, it can be helpful to consider the fabrics you choose. Cotton is a popular option, for example. At CALIDA, our DEEPSLEEPWEAR nightwear is also available in different fabrics designed to suit different preferences and temperatures.

Our COOLING and BALANCING FIBRES collections include materials such as TENCEL™ and SeaCell™. Depending on the fabric and how it is made, these materials can have different properties in terms of moisture absorption, breathability and overall feel. Discover which fabrics can be suitable options for clothing in hot weather.

TENCEL™: An option for warm nights

When temperatures drop, many people reach for warmer clothing made from wool, jersey or cashmere. But which fabrics can also be suitable for warm summer nights?

The CALIDA DEEPSLEEPWEAR COOLING collection features nightwear made from 100% TENCEL™, Lyocell. Its smooth, flowing surface can feel pleasant against the skin and contributes to a lightweight feel.

TENCEL™ can absorb moisture and, depending on how the fabric is made, can contribute to nightwear feeling comfortable in warmer temperatures. Our COOLING pyjamas and nightdresses can therefore be an option for warm summer nights.

SeaCell™: A comfortable feel on warm nights

For many people, sunscreen is part of their daily care routine during the warmer months. If you spend a lot of time in the sun, make sure to protect your skin appropriately and follow recommended sun protection practices.

At night, comfortable nightwear can help you feel at ease after a long summer day. Our DEEPSLEEPWEAR BALANCING nightwear is made from a combination that includes TENCEL™ and SeaCell™.

SeaCell™ is made from a combination of materials that includes fibres derived from brown algae. Combined with TENCEL™, it creates a soft fabric with a pleasant feel. If your skin is sensitive or irritated, make sure your clothing fits comfortably and does not cause unpleasant friction. If you have sunburn, appropriate skincare and avoiding further sun exposure should take priority.

Linen: A summer classic

Linen is another commonly used fabric for summer clothing. Dresses, skirts, trousers and blouses, as well as bed linen and pyjamas made from linen, are popular choices during the warmer months. Linen is made from fibres of the flax plant and can provide a lightweight, airy feel depending on how it is processed.

The properties of linen differ from those of our TENCEL™ fabric, which is used in various CALIDA DEEPSLEEPWEAR collections. While linen is often appreciated for its distinctive texture, CALIDA nightwear is available in a range of summer colours and different designs.

What clothing in hot weather? 3 tips for greater comfort in summer

When temperatures rise, it is not only the fabric of your clothing that matters. Cuts, colours and accessories can also influence how comfortable your outfit feels. Here are three tips for your summer wardrobe.

Tip 1: Choose light and dark clothing consciously

Light-coloured clothing is often associated with summer temperatures. Light surfaces reflect a greater proportion of incoming sunlight, while darker colours can absorb more radiation.

However, which colour feels comfortable also depends on whether you are spending time directly in the sun or in the shade, as well as on the fabric you are wearing. If you want to protect yourself from UV radiation, you should not rely solely on the colour of your clothing. Depending on the situation, closely woven fabrics and suitable sun protection can be useful.

Tip 2: Loose cuts can feel comfortable

It is not only the fabric but also the cut of a garment that can make a difference in high temperatures. Airy, loose-fitting garments leave more space between the fabric and your body and can therefore contribute to a comfortable feel.

Loose-fitting trousers made from linen, TENCEL™ and other lightweight fabrics can be an alternative to shorts. Which cut feels most comfortable depends on your personal preferences and the particular fabric.

Tip 3: Choose the right summer accessories

In hot weather, it is not only your clothing that matters. Your choice of accessories should also suit your personal preferences. Sometimes, less can be more.

If you do not find jewellery directly against your skin comfortable, you can opt for lighter pieces in warm weather, for example. Slim bracelets or anklets and subtle earrings can complement summer outfits.

A loose updo can also feel comfortable if you find wearing your hair down unpleasant in warm temperatures. Adjustable rings can be a practical option if your fingers temporarily change in size in warm weather.
